WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID ABOUT THE SMART WORKSPACE DESIGN SUMMIT

  • The organization over the last two days and during the entire lead-up to the summit was awesome. It was very professional and brought about a mix of professionals, which was really great. It wasn’t boring; there were different events to choose from and there was more to it than just the summit. The location, Lars and his facilitation, the singer on Thursday, the barista; the flawless AVset up; these little details of hospitality and event management make the summit memorable (apart from the great content, of course).”

Sudhir Saseedharan Design Manager, Corporate Facilities, LEGO
  • Thank you for a well-prepared and very inspiring meeting.”

Klaus Reiter Director, Colliers International Deutschland GmbH
  • SWDS 2017 was one of the best workspace events we have attended this year. The audience is a unique blend of architects and workplace enthusiasts, which makes for a very diverse crowd with innovative perspectives. The venue was perfectly chosen to encourage networking and idea sharing. We are already looking forward to the 2018 event!”

Pieter Kool
  G-Star Raw, Netherlands
Design Director

During the final phase of his master’s degree in Industrial Design Engineering, Pieter Kool approached G-Star to develop the “G-Star Store of the Future”. The project made a significant impression on the company, leading Kool to join G-Star on graduation from the Delft University of Technology in 2004.

Initially designing trade fair stands; Kool’s responsibilities quickly grew. Today he leads the 3D Design and Development Department. In this role, Kool is responsible for all 3D output of the brand, outside of apparel – from retail concepts and company interiors, to RAW Crossover projects. Actively involved in the development process of various fair and store concepts, from the generation of ideas to completion, he also ensures a global consistency of G-Star aesthetics and ambience across all showrooms and retail environments.

Kool’s involvement in RAW Crossover projects includes that of the RAW Prouvé collection, a range of furniture created in collaboration with the Prouvé family and manufactured by Vitra. He also was heavily involved in the recent development of the G-Star HQ in Amsterdam, designed the OMA Architecture firm.

In March 2013, Kool was awarded ‘Engineer of the Year’ in by the Dutch Royal Institute of Engineers. The jury commented, “…His technical solutions show the creative force of the engineering profession, bringing people into contact with it on a daily basis.”

He has a strong admiration for the aesthetics of functional and raw design, which he shares with other members of the G-Star creative team.

“The most fascinating part of working at G-Star comes from us having all creative disciplines in-house, which means constantly working with highly skilled visionaries – each an expert of their craft. Within the building there is always someone really, really good at their specific field to discuss the project with; keeping the level of work and the energy very high. I like this straightforward, collaborative spirit a lot”

Deutsche Lufthansa AG, Germany
Head of HR LH New Workspace

After working as a lawyer specialized in labor law for 20 years in different HR-positions I combined my legal knowledge with soft skills and Change Management to work in an interdisciplinary project with colleagues from IT and Real Estate Management.

In the last three years we moved 2400 employees in our headquarter into a new flexible working environment. This was a well orchestrated change process supporting the cultural change in our company: from a classical hierarchical organization to a flexible performance orientated culture based on trust. This being very successful we started already follow up projects in our subsidiaries.
